Kate Moss Gets a Couple of Coins from W

>> In late June, Kate Moss was spotted tooling around London in a couple of different coin necklaces, so when she showed up in September 2008 W wearing a jumble of similar necklaces, I had to investigate.  Kate was in Istanbul shooting the W editorial until June 19, and she was snapped wearing the necklaces shortly after, when she returned to London on June 20 and June 23.  So did she get to keep the Alexander McQueen and Isaac Manevitz for Ben-Amun coin necklaces credited in the editorial?  Looks like .

Anna Selezneva

>> THE ZEITGEIST —"These are troubled times for the New York modeling industry" — there is talk that New York no longer has the global hold as the center of the modeling industry because of "a lack of innovation and creativity is making the shows in NY more and more inessential." In fact, in a calculated move, the much-anticipated Anna Selezneva has not been placed with a New York agency.  [TI, TI] *image: source

Coutorture Community's Must Reads 8/19

New media's blessing and curse is the lack of censorship.
New media's blessing and curse is the lack of censorship. One great place to find honest opinions are our Network Partners, and today's Must Reads are no exception. The Shoe Goddess isn't convinced that the army inspiration was the best choice for Yves Saint Laurent footwear. Who says sexy can't be tough and vise versa? A sack doesn't sound like a very wearable shape, but Style Goodies is convinced that American Apparel's Le Sac Dress is wearable. With four different ways to style the dress, there's bound to be a shape for everyone. Tracy Reese's shows are alway a delight, mostly because of the wearability of the clothing she designs. All Lacquered Up offers a closer look at her latest collaboration with Sally Hansen, proving that her good taste extends beyond clothing. Fasshonaburu has a case of Romantic Gothic for Fall, and after the spread she compiled, she even has us convinced. Black lace, booties and romantic makeup are sure to strike a chord with you this fall as well. Looks like The Shoe Goddess wasn't the only one being honest today. Fashion Copious pans the first episode of Model.Live, a show supposedly following the lives of three models looking to break into fashion.

Good News On The Footwear Front

If you're feeling our love for this shoe, call Sigerson Morrison and get your name in the books.

If you're feeling our love for this shoe, call Sigerson Morrison and get your name in the books. You see, a few seasons ago Sigerson Morrison created the perfect peter pan shoe in both suede and leather (the leather version does not, in our opinion, do this shoe justice). The suede came in a dusty grey color and it was, in a few words, the most perfect peter pan shoe in the world. Well, we tried the shoe on and hesitated because, at this time, the vintage stores were stocking the woven versions that had a similar shape and look to them (this season Dolce Vita has ripped those off) but, what we realized long after the suede Sigerson Morrison version went out of stock, was that the vintage pairs only last for a quarter of the season and that the suede, modern version would have been the wisest investment. So, needless to say, since that time we've asked, every time we walk into the Sigerson Store, if they'll ever remake the suede version of the shoe. We have no shame.

This weekend when we popped into the store and went through our drill of picking up the patent leather version and asking the clerk whether the suede version would ever grace the floor again, we were given a response we thought we'd only hear in our dreams: "Why yes, it's about to deliver in that dusty grey version any day now". Say what? Cardiac arrest best describes our reaction to this news. We know everyone can say something about 'the shoe that got away' and we just had to share this story of hope. Peter pan fans, your day has come.

Robbie Myers Says Everything Is Hunky-Dory at Elle

>> This week's New York Magazine profile exploring the inner workings of Elle has editor-in-chief Roberta Myers less than pleased.

>> This week's New York Magazine profile exploring the inner workings of Elle has editor-in-chief Roberta Myers less than pleased.

The article, written by former Jezebel editor and current Gawker employee Maureen "Moe" Tkacik, tends to portray current Elle employees like Myers, international creative director Gilles Bensimon, creative director Joe Zee, and fashion news director Anne Slowey in a less positive light than former fashion director Nina Garcia.  At one point, Tkacik writes that Myers had a "lack of jurisdiction over the fashion department," and at another point she reports on the power struggle between Gilles Bensimon and Myers:

Bensimon wanted little to do with [Myers]. In photos from the rare occasions they would attend shows together, his expression is dour. He saw Myers as ambitious, insecure and overly American; she saw him as an overpaid, out-of-control spendthrift who was losing his touch.

Myers tells WWD what she really thinks about Gilles Bensimon »

Marc by Marc Jacobs Neon Bubble Dress

As much as we hate the word 'bubble' in our fashion lexicon, we do love this Marc by Marc dress.

As much as we hate the word 'bubble' in our fashion lexicon, we do love this Marc by Marc dress. In fact, we've kind of been on a frock kick these past few weeks because its an investment that works now and will last through the fall. This neon (ahem) bubble dress is a perfect example. This cotton blend dress with 3/4 length sleeves is perfect with bare legs and flats (we hear a fashion week outfit calling) and will work with black opaque tights and black booties come fall. On that note, we're particularly obsessed with that combination for fall. Brights and whites on your frock and an all-black look from thighs downward is a sharp trend for Fall 08 and one that is easy enough to manifest a million times over. Below, that neon number from two different e-commerce sites (take your pick) and a few other Marc by Marc frocks that follow the same set of rules. This is a look that's not hard to wrap your mind around and, let's face it, some mornings that kind of simplicity is appreciated. To see these frocks on the Fall 08 runway, click here.

Go For The Orange Bottle

We've found new hair care love: Sleek.Look hair products by Matrix.

We've found new hair care love: Sleek.Look hair products by Matrix. The story goes like this: Allure magazine sent us the Sleek.Look shampoo and conditioner as part of a beauty picks care package (Allure, among other magazines, have rated these products as the best of the best) and then, when we requested some hair product for shooting and review, we received the sealing serum and iron smoother spray. So, in a week's time we'd ended up with the entire system in our bathroom shower caddy, and found ourselves the subject of a full-fledged beauty trial. We're big fans of the straight iron over at Coutorture (but not in a burned out, too-straight way) and so we were crossing our fingers that these products would work. Did they ever. The spray and serum combination made our hair really slinky (that is the only word to describe it) and gave us the look that our hair has on 'day two' (as in, yesterday's shampoo). You see, the problem with day two, conceptually, is that day two translates to no gym and that just doesn't seem fair. Why should we have to sacrifice a workout for a good hair day? We know we sound like fashion bunnies right now but we also know we're not alone in this matter . The Sleek.Look product line also has a ton of ingredients to be thankful for. There are UV filters for protection, apricot oil and shea butter for moisture, and ceramide which seals split ends. The line, available this Fall in salons (if you find it at Duane Reade, we discovered, it's illegal), is something we wholeheartedly endorse. Our hair has never looked so wonderfully day two.
