This week has been a little rough for Coutorture and many of our friends. We aren't quite sure what the heck is going on in the celestial sphere that so many of our sisters are having troubles. Thankfully community member Catwalk Queen helped cheer us up with a little pink floral cheer. A super hot pink dress with some white hot accessories seem like just the thing to brush off all of the mind clutter of the week. Sure its a little Elle Woods but even the edgiest of fashionistas can probably get behind a See by Chloé mini right? We suggest putting on your brightest dress and singing along to this silly music video. Really, it made us feel better!
Temperley London is has opened a pop-up in Ibiza this month, just in time for those last-minute full-priced purchases. Could this be an alternative to sample sales? The pop-up was created with the help of Ibiza-based lifestyle service Deliciously Sorted and features Temperley's summertime kaftans, evening frocks, and swimsuits for those vacationing on the island. The shop allows for 'late night shopping and exclusive poolside service' making it that much easier to drop some plastic under the influence of a few cocktails. Pop-ups, as we know, don't 'pop-up' unplanned. Take Colette's conspicuous pop-up, slated to emerge curiously near Bryant Park, right in the middle of fashion week. Temperley London's well-timed pop-up doesn't exactly surprise us, in other words, but it does remind us to examine just why brands erect these brick and mortar anomalies. If we were vacationing in Ibiza, sure, we might be down from some poolside Temperley. Yeah, why not. If you should be land-locked (sigh, sweat) you might as well get your Temperley London on sale. In both cases, that's just the price you pay.

One of the first signs that fall is approaching is when you walk into a boutique, or shop online, and you're up to your ears in cardigans. You know the drill, "Oh hmm, it's too early to buy fall clothing but I bet I could cozy up to this on 'cool evenings'"--it's a rationalization we all make. That said, some of the Chloe pre-fall goodies have delivered and one striped cardigan has us thinking that we should blast the AC (not very eco-friendly, we know) and brew up some earl grey for the occasion. Net-a-Porter, always the wordsmith, peddled it like this: "Wear this relaxed knit with a wide belt for your casual weekend look.". Ah ha, seems they get the pre-fall thought process just fine (Go on, project your best self!). We don't know about you guys but our 'casual weekend look' in this heat consists of a one piece swimsuit, shorts, and sandals--if that. Nevertheless, we're tempted.
The CFDA is worried about New York City's Garment District. Forty percent of the Manhattan Garment District's production base could vanish in the next three years, according to a new survey done by the Garment Industry Development Corp, and designers are being urged to press City Hall to preserve a stable and enforceable production core.
Women's Wear Daily has a blog so we can all quit now. What a relief huh?
Speaking of WWD they have a fragrance insert today (hope that advertisers liked it) including pieces on the troubled Prestige Market's desired comeback, the vast number of fragrance launches in the coming months (15 in July alone), and innovations in mass fragrance.
Maison Martin Margiela's debut fine jewelry collection, in partnership with Italy's Damiani Group, is deliciously oversized. The creative on this signet ring upsized to bracelet proportions makes us very much desire the piece which makes us feel strange since its a powder white hand. The collection of 14 items is to arrive in November in 14 Margiela boutiques with prices ranging from $1,100 to $61,800
