>> Marc Jacobs seems to be having a women's accessories moment . . . for himself.
First, he was spotted everywhere with a ubiquitous black clutch, and then, on Tuesday night, his emerald and gold crystalline neckwear had tongues wagging at the Louis Vuitton-hosted Richard Prince Serpentine Gallery opening. When prompted about it, he explained of the Andrew Grima necklace, "I went shopping for a swimsuit today and came back with this. It's a woman's piece. I wondered, 'Can I wear it?' Then I thought, 'Why not? I can wear what I like!'"
This season, the choices for blazers are plentiful. The best part? You can wear them straight through the fall season. Blazers are undeniably making a comeback and it's not just the long lean sort either. Whether it's a marching band-style coat or a sleek smoking jacket, the silhouettes options are dynamic. Perhaps because we've been immersed in menswear lately, we've been getting pretty excited about this diversity. For the long and lean sort, Stella McCartney's single button coat is certainly versatile enough for all of your Fall needs (and, it comes in a few different colors). Georgio Armani's herringbone jacket has us thinking of cropped equestrian-like outfits and the length, thankfully, perfect paired with high waist shorts. Also, covetable are the slouchy versions. Alexander Wang's boyfriend blazer would leave room for t-shirts and loose tops and would sling inside your purse for those mid-season changes in weather. The conclusion, we've some great options.
>> It's goodbye London, hellooooo Paris for Gareth Pugh. Although he's only been showing since 2005, it was only a matter of time before Gareth took his business from the eccentric incubator that is London Fashion Week to the internationally prestigious Paris Fashion Week.
Thanks to an endowment of 150,000 euros, or approximately $233,549 — the largest international fashion prize of its kind — from the ANDAM Fashion Award, Gareth will be making his move to the next level in Paris this September with his Spring 2009 collection.
Exciting times for Gareth, who is currently on a British Vogue shoot with Tim Walker, Tim Burton, and Helena Bonham Carter, and said of the win: "It think showing in Paris is going to give the me necessary kick in the back side, and it's also a change of scenery from London. I want longevity, of course, and I also want to be taken more seriously."
