>> THE ZEITGEIST —According to eBay, sales of Yves Saint Laurent-related items jumped 75% on the day following the designer's death — this includes listings of anything and everything with the YSL logo intact, from a $5 vintage pack of YSL Polish cigarettes to an Yves Saint Laurent paper shopping bag that was "used" but in "very good condition" and priced at 99 cents. Agyness Deyn Snips, Strips for Jean Paul Gaultier
>> In the commercial for Jean Paul Gaultier's just-launched perfume Ma Dame, Agyness struts up to the camera wearing a long platinum blonde wig, snips the hair all off until she's back to her normal crop, and then proceeds to rip off her shirt sleeves, rip open her shirt, snip off her pant legs, and finish the whole ordeal with a little dance move. All in all, it's a very retro '80s experience, complete with black biker shorts, but one that Agyness brings into today. I consider my 34 seconds well spent.

Karta Grid Print Dress
At a recent Resort showing we saw a fashion gal wearing this Karta Grid print dress. The gal, a very womanly fashionista indeed, looked smashing. It's nice to see these garments on someone other than a size two. Knowing that the garment works on more than just the models is something that really solidifies the brand in our minds. Now part of the Net-a-Porter blow out sale, this dress is only a bit over $200 and seems like it would be a wise investment. Karta is a newly founded Los Angeles based brand that puts out quite a few shift dresses though each with its own special embellishments. It seems like Karta is just in time for Fall's opulence trends (an off-shoot of the recession) and should be favored by trend aware fashionistas who shop at a contemporary price point and veer away from the avant garde. Like any designer, as long as they're doing something interesting and speaking to someone who loves fashion, we'll take them just as they are. Below, check out some of Karta's other offerings, all marked down for Summer.
Is Lara Stone Considering Retirement? Plus, More Pirelli 2009 Previews
>> Just a couple of days after we got a first look at the making of the 2009 Pirelli calendar (NSFW), more footage from the shoot in Botswana has appeared, complete with the girls riding around on elephants, jumping off elephants into water, and writhing around in the mud. There is even a preview shot of Daria Werbowy included.
Accompanying the video are interviews with photographer Peter Beard and Lara Stone — all in Italian — but when the narrator introduces Lara Stone, she mentions that Lara is thinking about retiring. Nothing for sure, but surprising, considering how much of a following she has in Carine Roitfeld and at W.

Stella McCartney Resort 2009 By The Network
If there's a designer who could spark across-the-board attention from blog-reading fashion fans around the world, it's Stella McCartney. Her Resort/Spring 2009 show, which took place this past week, inspired quite a bit of content from our Network Partners. And, as any good blogger knows, that means straight up photo content. In this day and age, with thousands of words being penned by online journalists every day, sometimes a picture just speaks more loudly. And may we say, especially on a Friday. We'll spare your our interpretation just this once and point you directly to our beloved bloggers, namely, Fashion Indie, The Runway Scoop, and Season Five who all posted their thoughts (and pictures) from the collection.
