Stam Pronounces Proenza As "Shooler" at A-List Awards

>>  "Skooler" vs. "Shooler": the eternal argument returns.  Considering Jessica Stam just accompanied Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez to the Costume Institute Gala last month, and has walked in plenty of their shows, you'd think she would know how to pronounce their label.  In the Proenza Schouler for Target commercials, Jack and Lazaro said "Skooler," but when Jessica announced the brand as a nominee for the "A-List Fashion Award" at Bravo's A-List Awards last night, she pronounced it "Shooler."  Maybe it was nerves — she was having a little trouble with the teleprompter.

Sandal Scandal

As the scene on the sidewalks can attest, Manhattanites seem to be a bit confused about summer footwear.

As the scene on the sidewalks can attest, Manhattanites seem to be a bit confused about summer footwear. We've seen the loveliest outfit ruined by Havaiianas (we'll be nice and assume she was headed for a pedicure), the girl who thinks trendy gladiator sandals go with everything (they don't), and more than a few too-short skirts paired with too-high heels (still cringing from the panty flash). The dreaded maxi dress and pumps combo has made an appearance, and boots in 90+ heat are another baffling phenomenon. Why don't women seem to care? We understand that summer footwear should reflect the laid back, carefree spirit of the season, but we interpret that to mean swapping your skyscrapers for flat sandals, or using a dose of vivid color to punch up a neutral outfit. From t-straps to ankle wraps, there are surely better options for hitting the pavement than cheap plastic flip flops. We've picked out some styles we'd rather see.

The Manhattan Jil Sander store is open today and if you're curious about its interior architecture, there are a few details of note. Namely, a wall of rotating mirrors. Hey, it's downtown New York! We don't have room for epicenters and whatnot.

Juicy Couture for Men is changing its name to Dirty English. To which we say, there's a men's line? No, really. Apparently this name is thought to capture the 'edginess' that the men's line has come to represent. We're not sure about edginess but we're pretty sure Dirty English is curiously (and appropriately) similar to Ugly American.

Topshop has been slated as the sponsor of all of the McCarren Park Pool events this summer. Staffers will be outfitted in Topshop's current offerings and 'style consultants' will be scouting the grounds and snapping photos of hipsters. This will probably double as style section of Topshop's U.S. ecommerce venture and research material for the next delivery of ripoffs.
