As part of the Fall 08 Alice + Olivia collection, designer Stacy Bendet showed this hot pink number. The line first came to fruition by way of low rise trousers and has since grown to encompass a full ready to wear collection with additional denim retail stores to boot. For her Fall 08 presentation Bendet took care of full boudoir arrangements, proving that bright colors and formal frocks need not be reserved for the red carpet (thank god). It's nice to know hot pink will be sticking around a little bit longer as it surely compliments the backdrop of a New York City street. Or maybe that's just us being a bit greedy. Truthfully, this would be a stand-out look just about anywhere. Seven Eleven anyone? Hmm..we think we feel a shoot coming on.
It's freezing, we know. It's also late enough in the season that some of us may have started actively daydreaming about summer. This video by The Teenagers might just facilitate that process. Oh, and it's f-ing hilarious. So, if you're the sort who is focusing on the Barney's Warehouse Sale rather than the 3/15 deliveries (one of the biggest spring deliveries), at least you'll have a laugh. Bonus points: the appearance of a plum silk tie neck blouse, and the narrative acting as our Ode to London Fashion Week part two.
Sometimes the bells and whistles are not required. Realizing we sort of missed the Band of OutsidersFall 08 collection during the madness of fashion week, we poked around to catch up on the happenings of the brand. Boy, the labels womenswear collection, is probably exactly how we'd dress if we lived in the fantasy world we invent while walking with our headphones on (okay, maybe not all of us). What convinced us even more, of the brands alignment with our fantasy world, is the simplicity of their website. Two blogs, one for Band and one for Boy, are made up cleanly with press images, goofy polaroids, and You Tube videos. There's no godawful Flash Player (something we all do agree on) there are no links to previous collections. There's simply a rolling log of succinct, clean images, and some links to likeminded websites. The feeling is like visiting an old friend, someone who you don't 'network' with, who you just like. Before long, you realize that this relationship is just much, much better than peripheral nonsense because, without the flash player, your left to enjoy some funny polaroids and cool clothes.
