There are sample sales and then there are showroom sample sales, although you can't expect the prices to be rock-bottom what you'll find in a showroom sample sale is often extra special. First off, it hasn't been stomped on in the dressing room floor a million times over, and second, the inventory often amounts to whatever the designer happened to make in multiples--rather than what the retailer couldn't sell. See where we're going with this? What's more, if you like one brand from a showroom, chances are you'll like them all as it's the showroom's job to not only represent individual brands but have a cohesive aesthetic overall. Needless to say these are definitely worth hitting up. Below, our top three picks from the New York showroom sample sales.

Archetype Showroom: Fremont, Eskell, Lorick, and Shipley and Halmos are just a few of the brands at Archetype showroom. Expect all of your birthday outfit and party dress dreams to come true. Denise Williamson: On December 5th and 6th head over to Soho for the Denise Williamson sample sale which will include items from Gilded Age, Operations, Form, and Blue Blood. Trust us, not a wardrobe staple will be left unturned. Located at 119 Mercer Street and running from 8:30 -7:30 on Friday and 11-6 on Saturday. Edite Showroom: If you fancy unkown contemporary designers with a luxury pedigree edite showroom is where you'll find them. On December 8-10th from 10-7pm check out big time savings on Caroline Hedaya (top left), Lialia, and many more. Located at 134 W.29th Street. We've been noticing an influx of berry colored garments on the e-commerce sites this season and though we love the shades involved, the sheer number if giving us the creeps. Could their presence be a result of the black opaque tights trend? Berry colors, after all, best compliment that particular look. Whatever the reason may be if you're feeling ultra-feminine there's no need to wait until Valentine's Day to get your sweet on. Net-a-Porter in particular is ready to dive in now--and though an army of pink and purple frocks doesn't seem appealing, one or two can't hurt. Yes, you could call us romantics.

Tomorrow OAK will launch into a 30% off sale, with the possibility for even greater discounts as detailed in their signature flyer. When OAK says "at least" 30% off--it has our hearts racing. Especially when we noticed they've fresh-out-of-the-box deliveries from Acne, Alex & Chloe, and Complex Geometries (a best seller). We've also heard rumors of holiday photo shoots which may or may not include appearances by staff so it's wise to keep an eye on the site for all of the eye candy soon to come our way. Our pick from the 30% off sale? As you might have read yesterday, the Alexander Wang onesie.

Last night British designers and fashion industry pioneers were saluted for their accomplishments at the British Fashion Awards. Among them were Matthew Williamson for Red Carpet Designer, Jourdan Dun for Model of the Year, Nicholas Kirkwood for Swarovski Emerging Talent, and Luella Bartley for Designer of the Year. The suspense builds as Black Friday approaches--we've noticed nervousness in our retail-proximate friends as they try to anticipate just how low a markdown will move the merchandise. Now, WWD rallies up the evidence.  

Brooklyn retailer Bird is counting on a pop-up shop to bring in extra sales during the holiday season. A new Williamsburg location will be partially open for the month of December and will include limited edition designs from Steven Alan, Stella McCartney accessories, and holiday collections from the likes of Tsumori Chisato and Rachel Comey. Sounds like a Brooklyn holiday to us.

>> The British Fashion Awards left an unnamed celebrity collapsed on the floor of the bathroom — maybe they were zapped of energy after celebrating Jourdan Dunn's Model of the Year win?  Fashion types were out in droves on the Swarovski crystal-encrusted red carpet this evening: L'Wren Scott accompanied Stephen Jones, who celebrated his Outstanding Achievement by making himself a hat shaped like a crown, Red Carpet Designer of the Year nominee Giles Deacon brought muse Katie Grand clad in silver robopants and feathered neckpiece, Designer of the Year Luella Bartley enjoyed taking a break from the kids with partner David Sims, and Jourdan Dunn hung out in foyer looking shy.*image: source, source
