The name Phillip Lim might be common to hear, but we can't help but acknowledge the man's talent. This Fall 08, no matter how drab the runway looked (it was a serious season--unlike the lightness and femininity of Spring 09) what ends up delivering are a slew of jackets and cocktail frocks that didn't make it on the runway. The connection between the two, however, is seamless. Click here to see the Fall 08 runway gallery.

Tamae Ishii, born in Tokyo, raised in California, and educated at Parson's in New York, is young designer with a lot going for her. Aside from her diverse background, her industry experience is helping pave the way for her namesake line, Ishii, which launched just a few seasons ago. As an apprentice of Valentino, her knowledge of refined elegance shows through in her collections. Ishii has also gained industry experience at Calvin Klein, Zac Posen, and Jean Paul Gaultier. This Spring 09 showed sweet, feminine blouses and frocks which, in person, looked very well-made. The slik floral print frocks were our favorite as they seemed to evoke the Valentino spirit. We kind of missed this during fashion week, what with that schedule and all, but model and stylist to Alexander Wang, Erin Wasson, put out a capsule collection for Spring 09 with RVCA. What you see above encapsulates anything resembling a look book of the collection but that's just as well. The Erin X RVCA collection includes what one would expect; denim cut offs, little vests, a slim black blazer, some boyfriend jeans, and a Kate Moss-esque floral mini dress thrown in for good measure. If the price point stays true to the brand we're looking at Alexander Wang clothing on an Urban Outfitters budget.
Peter Som officially parted ways with Bill Blass, owned by NexCen Brands Inc, and there are horror stories about embroiderers not getting paid to prove it. NexCen scraped Som's Spring 09 runway show, which was when the news leaked that Som would be leaving.
Today we learned ten reasons why we should be shopping again and, more importantly, that Net-a-Porter is opening an "outlet and sample sale priced sister site" called theoutnet.com. This is bigger than Topshop.
Moschino celebrates their 25th and Rossella Jardini, the low-profile Creative Director behind the brand, talks about her approach to fashion. Moschino; known for its playful style, and Jardini; who is not impressed with the so-called glamorous life, are a match made in heaven. Unless you call luxury price points glamorous.
