If you've a closet full of little black dresses but not a whole lot of show-stopping garments, Your Slip Is Showing is the answer to your prayers. Just wear one of these slips under a tank top, short black dress, t-shirt, or tunic and you've transformed your look completely. Today we checked out the Spring 09 samples, but you can also buy many similar styles by way of their online store. Just think of the day-night transformation you could make if you snuck one of these into your handbag on the way to work.
These two sisters, Julia and Natalia Alarcon, have experience at Oscar de la Renta and Phi to back them up--though their design experience only began in 2005, when they enrolled at Parson's New School together. We first heard about their line, Lialia, at the Fresh Faces Gen Art fashion show this season. Lialia started the show off on a strong note and we were intrigued by the duo. Today, while going through the lovely brands at Edite Showroom, we met Lialia again. This Spring 09 there were no washed out colors or unabashed silhouettes, the mood was decided and strong--something we are not surprised to see from a two Oscar de la Renta and Phi alums. We've never been huge fans of over-the-knee boots but this street style photo, taken by Garance Dore, is an exception to the rule. With so many great ankle boots on the shelves this season, it's hard to get into this trend (which hit so hard the last two Fall seasons in New York anyway). The gal captured in the photo pulls it off effortlessly, however, making over-the-knee look classic rather than like last year's trend. If you feel like indulging, check out the varied price points above.
It played up the gothic, witchy mood for Fall 08 perfectly and now it's all up for grabs--today, Luella has our heart pounding. Luella always offers feminine, smart separates, no matter how dramatic her runway show appears to be. We love that her vision is a unified and high fashion one, but that the individual pieces are quite wearable and long-lasting. Check out the entire Fall 09 Luella collection, right here.
