>> INSIDER WIRE —As much as we hoped otherwise, it doesn't sound like we'll be getting a lot of Diane von Furstenberg on The City. She didn't appear in the trailer, and the show's star, Whitney Port, says that she's only worked with Diane once, for "about five minutes" before the DVF show at Fashion Week. Meanwhile, it looks like we'll still be seeing Whitney's ex-boss, Kelly Cutrone, on camera — she acts as a mentor to the New York transplant. [The Cut]

Gucci Joins Alessandra Facchinetti as Victims of Spy Scandal
>> Last week Hermes had to deal with a belligerent heir, and this week, Gucci is caught up in a spy scandal — anyone want to guess what drama will round out the three?
The brand's offices in Florence, Milan, and Rome were searched this week as part of an investigation of illegal access to the Italian Ministry of Interior's data bank. Last year, Carlo Del Bo, Gucci's former head of security, was arrested for illicitly obtaining information to help the brand fight conterfeits. A Gucci spokesman said that the brand was unaware of Del Bo's methods to unearth the information and is "fully cooperating with the authorities."
Gucci is the latest target to be pulled into into the ongoing "Spy Story" scandal; Alessandra Facchinetti, former head of womenswear at Gucci — who hasn't had a great year already — was revealed in July to be a target of another wiretapping scandal connected to Del Bo's arrest. Her phone conversations were tapped illegally for unclear reasons.

>> INSIDER WIRE —Karl Lagerfeld gets special treatment, regardless of his company. At a post-Chanel Mobile Art dinner party attended by Calvin Klein, Olivier Theyskens, Donna Karan, Bruce Weber, Franca Sozzani, and Carine Roitfeld Tuesday night, guests were served autumn soup, chicken pot pie, steak and salmon by The Waverly Inn, while the kitchen prepared a special order just for Karl: a triple order of tuna tartare, Diet Coke, grilled salmon and grilled pineapple. Guess he's got to stick to that best-selling Lagerfeld Diet, right? [WWD]
Love Is in the Air for Katie Grand, Francesca Burns?
>> Katie Grand's new magazine has a name — Love — just as previously rumored. Nicholas Coleridge, managing director of Conde Nast UK, which is publishing the magazine, explains: "We came up with the name together. It's just a great name. It's a very positive name denoting a love of fashion and a love of style."
Love — which comes out late February, early March, will go for £5 and is already attracting a "very positive response" from advertisers. It's also rumored to have attracted Francesca Burns from her post as fashion editor at i-D — she's said to be joining Love as senior fashion editor-at-large.

Veda Jackets For Fall 08

We stopped in our tracks when we saw the zip-front jeans and then the real love started brewing when we saw the sleek leather jackets designer Lyndsey Butler put out this Fall 08. Motorcycle jackets sometimes make us feel like little boys but Butler's line, Veda, turns out the perfect balance of feminine and masculine tailoring. Learn more about her, like we did, right here.
>> INSIDER WIRE —Donatella Versace has joined the legions of Gossip Girl fans; Since the show doesn't air in Italy, she has the DVDs sent over her way: "I love all the styling, all the clothes and how bitchy they are." She even mentioned her willingness to do a cameo on the show — producers, are you listening? Michael Kors did it, so why not Donatella? [WWD]

Three Lingerie Sets We Love

At a certain point in the winter season our priorities shift and things that give us comfort, like nice lingerie, are how we want to spend our money. We think these three lingerie sets are each special in their own way. The Myla set from Net-a-Porter for a notion of luxury, the Anthropologie set because of the print and inexpensive price tag, and the VPL set for lounging at home in style. We think these exist on the same level as your favorite baggy Levis or a new white cotton t-shirt. That is, they are timeless comforts.
The Best Thing About Stylista Last Night: Kate Lanphear
>> Between the reviews yesterday and the original preview clips, I wasn't expecting much from Stylista — except maybe the inane tasks and overblown drama that was readily served up. Toward the end of the pilot episode, however, there was a nice cameo from Elle style director Kate Lanphear, who appeared to help with the judging. She wore her trademark black and white, but even she couldn't escape the excessive makeup treatment before going on camera — it was strange to watch, since Kate is so striking in her usual minimal-to-no makeup. It was just another symbol of how unreal this reality show is — Kate may have played along, but she barely talked, and my guess is, she would have rather been somewhere else.
