>> Steven Meisel's October 2008 "Natural High" editorial in Vogue has everyone talking. Where else but Vogue would you see models in chubbies (not to be mistaken with chubby models) climbing up the steep side of a mountain, goat-style, clutching clutches and in super-high heels? Or what about Caroline Trentini, dangling over the side of a cliff? This one is just begging to be LOLVogued.

Vogue October 2008 Ends With a Cliffhanger
>> BLOWING THE COVER —The New York Times's T Women's Fashion issue for Winter 2008 sounds French-themed: Paolo Roversi photographed Carla Bruni-Sarkozy in Paris last week for the issue; there's a "New French Wave" portfolio of artists, musicians, actors, and directors; and even a profile on Balmain's own Christophe Decarnin. Richard Nicoll Spring 2009: Awash with Colorblocking
>> Over in London today, Richard Nicoll carried on the "Malibu palette" that got started in New York. Vivid pink and tangerine colorblocked their way through the parade, fading into muted shades of blue and gray. This collection seems like London's answer to Francisco Costa's Calvin Klein — Nicoll was inspired by nineties minimalism paired with fifties modernism, after all.

>> THE MODELIZER —Iekeliene Stange had a stalker at New York Fashion Week: "After the 3.1 Phillip Lim show . . . [Iekeliene] was mobbed by sweaty paparazzi, Japanese tourists, and this older guy who had a Ziploc bag of photos of her with hand-drawn hearts around her. He was hyperventilating and giggling to himself calling her 'my angel.' Yikes!" [Refinery29]
Speech! Speech! By Anna Wintour
>> Last Tuesday evening, Anna Wintour co-hosted Runway to Change, a fundraiser for Barack Obama that involved designers from Alexander Wang to Marc Jacobs contributing Obama-logoed tote bags, scarves, tees and the like to the cause.
It's too soon to tell whether the event was a success — but Andre Leon Talley did proudly tote his Obama 08 Love Bag by Diane von Furstenberg around Fashion Week last week. Now, back to Anna: She gave a speech at the event! Blogger Shannon Nelson was there to video the momentous event — until she was told to turn the camera off, that is . . .

>> THE MODELIZER —Lily Cole did her first major lingerie cover for lad mag Arena last May, and she's doing another lad mag cover for October 2008 — wearing even less. Look for the flame-haired model on the front of Playboy France, holding a teddy bear and wearing nothing but a pair of white socks. Inside, there's a 14-page spread inspired by Serge Gainsbourg's Histoire de Melody Nelson album. [Telegraph]
Louise Goldin Looks to the Future for Spring 2009
>> It's easy to put together a sheer skirt or two — but when you knit them, it's a whole different story. For her third runway collection, that's just what Louise Goldin did — she knits everything, even high-tech yarns like monofilaments and fiber optics. With that techie inclination in mind, it's no surprise that her Spring 2009 collection veered to the futuristic and was the result of hours spent in scientific libraries.
