>> If you're in desperate need of another crisp white shirt, tomorrow's your day. 3.1 Phillip Lim, Band of Outsiders, Michael Bastian, Threeasfour, and Philip Crangi have all pitched in for the annual Gap Design Editions, which make their debut in stores and online April 15.  The shirts and dress run $78-$88, while the Crangi cuffs go for $45.  The Bastian safari top Anja is wearing (far right) has my name written all over it; This is the perfect opportunity to support designers and add a staple piece to your closet without having to shell out the big bucks.

iron flub

>>  The last time Vogue so blatantly promoted a movie on their cover was Kirsten Dunst's September 2006 Marie Antoinette cover — and at least it had a fashion connection.  After April's controversial cover, we're back to drawing from the same old pool of actresses.  May 2008 brings us Gwyneth Paltrow, accompanied by Iron Man helmet.

Not much creativity here . . . take away the necklace Stam wore on the Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2008 runway, and the two girls could be twins: light skin, blonde hair in loose curls, even the poses are similar.  And I wonder, what's the likelihood that Vogue got paid to have that helmet on the cover?

>> It's always fun to hear Kate Moss speak, since she famously doesn't give out interviews . . . especially when she's saying something more than "Get the London look."  While they were together shooting a flower-inspired editorial for V Magazine, photographer Nick Knight had Kate do a poetic voice-over to accompany a psychadelic film of the leftover stills.  The product, below.

la bombe indeed

>> I've never really looked to Carolina Herrera as a source of inspiration, but after seeing a slide show of Herrera over the years, I love the Latin flair, the palpable Goya influence she draws from.  No wonder Diana Vreeland called her "la bombe."

they want it all

Mon, 04/14/08 — 03:01:00 PM

>> Everyone wants to be a designer these days, and don't discount the stylists.  Rachel Zoe did Leiber handbags; L'Wren Scott, who dresses Nicole Kidman, has her own collection; Andrea Lieberman, who Gwen Stefani relies on, designs studded jewelry through Mouawad; Chrstina Ehrlich and Estee Stanley, who are partner in crime with the Olsens, have had contemporary line Miss Davenporte for a couple of years; and now there's another set of contenders.

Rose_brittbardo_jewelsstege_2

Stylists Britt Bardo and Jewels Steger, who work with the likes of Eva Mendes and Kate Hudson, launched their new clothing line, Rose, just last week in LA.  The collection, which includes solid-colored tops and dresses in silk modal and jersey, cuffed white trousers, and a black knit top with filmy white short sleeves, runs from $125-$975.  These preview pictures remind me of the Olsen's The Row, but who isn't trying to imitate The Row these days?
