high-intensity girl crush

  >> I know I've gushed about her before, but I need to do it again -- I'm way too obsessed with this girl's look.  Irina Lazareanu -- the real-life Violet Incredible... Emily the Strange... whatever you want to say.  Her haircut may not make her the most versatile model in the business, but if you're going to stick with one look, hers is a pretty damn good one to pick.

when things "go wrong"

>> If you're in Manhattan, I am so jealous of you right now... for many reasons, but the main one at this point in time being that one of my favorite photographers, Marilyn Minter, is having her work displayed on three huge billboards in the art district.  Her work shows the grit behind fashion -- sometimes literally, like in the phenomenal picture above.  She focus on the outtakes, as she told Paper Magazine: "It's in the moment when everything goes wrong.  It's when the model sweats.

There's lipstick on teeth and the makeup's running."  God, what I wouldn't give for one of her prints...

ah, to be the editor of vogue paris...

>> And I thought it was cool that Carine Roitfeld wore haute couture the day after it was on the runway...  Apparently she gets to wear ready-to-wear before its even debuted on the runway!

oh mandy

>> Remember the edgy March 2006 Vogue Italia with Amanda Moore on the cover?  Her accompanying editorial is finally up -- and it's very biker babe to go with her femmohawk-of-sorts.  There's some great shots in there by Steven Meisel, and the whole motorcycle chic mood is very appropriate, what with the motorcycle boots and the rock chic feeling in general coming back into style.

One of Steven Meisel's other editorials for the magazine is up as well -- "Organized Robots" -- the models are in all-white, with nun hats.  I didn't like the editorial as much (the nuns kind of creep me out in a sterile hospital way), but there's one great shot with Amanda, Gemma, and Missy Rayder in a bathtub.
