Then, go out and rent Belle de jour -- you'll see Catherine Deneuve embody sophistication itself in an all-YSL wardrobe of pillbox hats, Jackie O's, and yes, that's right patent leather coat and shoes. Let's just say this movie singlehandedly convinced me that patent leather can be worn without making you look like a space cadet...or a hooker. It may have to be used sparingly...the shoes here, the belt there, but it can look nice...if done right, of course.
