>> Jason Wu has partnered with Target on a collection hitting stores and online Feb. 5, 2012. "My collection for Target embodies my signature aesthetic of feminine sophistication, with a mischievous nod to the 1960s," says Wu. "I've had an incredible experience partnering with Target, and I am looking forward to bringing these affordable designs to women across the country." He has designed apparel, handbags, and scarves, which will range from $20 to $60, for the occasion.

Versace for H&M

>> The Versace for H&M collection won't be available until it hits select H&M stores in mid November, but details — and images — from the collection are slowly starting to trickle in. Earlier this month Vogue, Vogue UK, and Vogue Russia released a bevy of photos from the collection, and WWD recently reported that H&M will fete the capsule on Nov. 8 in New York City. On the list of events? A pop-up boutique, a runway show, and an after party — all of which Donatella Versace will reportedly be in town to attend. Here, an up-close look at a few choice pieces gathered from the Vogue Russia spread, featuring iconic Gianni-era leopard-neon prints, studded body-con dresses (around $200), Op Art floral blouses and leggings (about $30), and eye-catching chain-mail jewels (around $30).

Christopher Kane x J Brand Resort 2012

>> Last year, when Christopher Kane and J Brand first teamed for the 5x5 project, there were hints that the partnership could span further. So it was no surprise when, this past Summer, the labels announced that they would again be collaborating — this time on a full jeanswear line for Kane's Resort 2012 collection. Now, the first few images are finally out, courtesy of The Telegraph UK. The 17-piece collection features raw-edged flares, jean jackets, and capris — in Kane's signature fluorescents — plus, classic cut-offs and straight-legs in a crisp palette of white, black, and faded blue. For his part, Kane seems quite happy with the team-up, saying, "J Brand are the go-to company for fashion denim, so I could not think of anyone better to work with on this. This is something that I can see as a potential long term relationship rather than a short term collaboration. My Resort collection was so much wider this season, and I think that the denim really complemented the collection."

Click through the slideshow for a first look at the capsule, available online at Net-a-Porter this November. Prices start around $300.

Proenza Schouler To Launch Denim Line

It sounds like the last category will be the first focus: Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, who have collaborated with J Brand on jeans in the past, plan to introduce their first denim line in December or January. They were already fitting samples last week. [On the Runway]

Spring 2012 Ready-to-Wear from J Brand

>> After testing the waters with Hussein Chalayan and Proenza Schouler collaborations, six-year-old denim company J Brand is set to debut its very own high-end sportswear line for Spring 2012. The 140-piece collection of office-to-evening separates — which will carry the same label as the brand's signature jeans — is priced from $200 to $1,500 and is meant to hang alongside the likes of Isabel Marant and Rag & Bone. "The initiative we set out from the very beginning was to build a fashion brand," CEO Jeff Rudes told WWD.

With a palette of understated solids —  lilac, black, grey — the line is also primarily absent of the material that made the brand famous; instead, newly-hired design director Donald Oliver (who has stints at Vera Wang and Calvin Klein under his belt) has elected to use fabrics such as silk chiffon and lambskin. "We paid a lot of attention to details, making the garment feel special to the wearer," Oliver said, adding of the intended customer: "We wanted her to be easygoing, uncomplicated, subtly sophisticated. We wanted her to feel relevant, not trendy, not like she’s trying too hard, which is why I think the garments have an ease about them."

Though only 60 of the company's 2,500 retail doors will offer the line in the first season, the launch is just the first in a series of planned expansions for the brand over the next few years; accessories, menswear, and flagship stores in 6 cities are also in the works. Click through to see images from the new collection, with a full lookbook coming next week — just in time for Fashion Week.

>> Straight after Karl Lagerfeld's Macy's line drops at the end of this month, Giambattista Valli — in his first foray into affordable fashion — is collaborating on a line for the retailer.

The limited-edition Giambattista Valli for Macy's collection includes cocktail dresses, skirts, blouses, light jackets, edgy pants, and graphic tees, all of which stick to a mainly red and black palette, with touches of gold, gray, and fuchsia. Alongside bold prints and color, Valli worked with feminine fabrics, lace, tweed, brocade, faux fur, and point d’esprit tulle.

The collection bows Oct. 26 both in 225 Macy's stores and on the retailer's website, and runs $50 to $150.

Already, Macy's has designers lined up for next Spring, according to Martine Reardon, EVP of marketing and advertising: “Look for us to be doing new things in the spring. We’re looking at other apparel categories. We’re also looking at shoes, handbags and jewelry. Anything is possible for the future.”

"I’ve edited so many things in my life, the mass market is another challenge for me,” said Dello Russo of the line, which is priced $30 to $139. “I wanted to see if I could push forward in a new way and Macy’s for me represents the biggest of American shopping institutions.”
