Suddenly Everywhere — Statement Earrings

>> Are shoulder-grazing earrings replacing collar necklaces and arm parties as the fashion crowd's favorite statement jewelry?
Spring 2012 Fashion Week Street Style Trends: Statement Earrings

>> Are shoulder-grazing earrings replacing collar necklaces and arm parties as the fashion crowd's favorite statement jewelry? Maybe, if all the jumbo earrings spotted on the streets of the most recent fashion weeks are any indication. From New York to Paris, giant baubles were spotted dangling from many a well-styled ear — Joanna Hillman wore Eddie Borgo's red silk tassel dusters in New York (far left); Giovanna Battaglia wore an ornate cross style in Milan (top, far right); and Olivia Palermo sported a huge emerald-enamel set in Paris (bottom left). But this look wasn't just confined to the streets: the Spring 2012 runways offered up their fair share as well, with Marni, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Etro, and Blumarine all marching out versions of the style. While it may be too soon to tell if this look has real staying power, one thing is certain: it's a playful way to switch it up, and it definitely feels fresh for the season. Get ahead of the curve and make the look your own by shopping our picks of the chicest, jumbo earrings around — all measuring in at over 3.5 inches, and all currently available — here in the slideshow.

Spotted on the Streets of Spring 2012 Fashion Week — Denim on Denim

Spring 2012 Fashion Week Street Style Trend: Denim on Denim

>> It's in the jeans. Full-on denim looks were all over the runways for Spring 2011 — Jason Wu, Celine, Stella McCartney, and Chloe all offered up the style — and it looks like the trend is continuing for Fall. Over the past few weeks, we've spotted denim-on-denim on a handful of Fashion Week street style regulars — Lauren Santo Domingo even sported two separate versions of the look at recent shows. While the record-breaking high temperatures in Europe have no doubt made this breezy style work well now, there's no reason the look can't be worn straight through Winter with the addition of some key styling pieces. The Perfect Fall Flat — Smoking Slippers

Shop Fall 2011 Shoe Trends: Smoking Slippers, Loafers, Flats

>> Smoking slippers are the new ballet flats. Retailers are reporting that the loafers — in all colors, price points, and styles — are in high demand this season. Not surprising that we've been spotting the Hugh Hefner-style loungers all throughout the fashion weeks. Street style favorite Giovanna Battaglia was spotted wearing a multicolored fleur de lis pair in New York (top left) as well as a plain black set in Milan while T magazine's Jane Herman trotted to the New York shows in tasseled patent ones (bottom left). And no wonder. This flat is super versatile — and it hits just the right note for Fall: a little preppy, a little garconne, and super comfortable to boot. Borrowed From the Boys

>> While pilfering from the guys is nothing new — the Fall 2011 runways of DKNY, Ralph Lauren, and Marc Jacobs were chock-full of menswear-inspired styles, from tuxes to tweed — we've taken the concept one step further and gathered up some of the coolest meant-for-men pieces around.

In fact, these styles are so chic, it would be a crime to let the boys keep them to themselves; there's a chartreuse Jil Sander "document holder" that would make the perfect oversized clutch, a slim-cut teal blazer that would look so chic over a floral dress, and much, much more. Color Up

What to Wear with Bright Pants

>> Keep the bright days of Summer going well into Fall by gleaning a little inspiration from this street-snapped look, straight from the streets of London Fashion Week. While it may be tempting to play it safe by teaming bright pants with neutral basics, this ensemble prooves that mixing it up can be way more chic. The secret to getting it right? Use basic color theory and keep the main colors within the same color temperature. Here, cool teal blue works well with the merlot hue of the top, tying in perfectly with the purple undertones of the bag. A neutral fur vest and black shoes ground the look; a mint bracelet provides a bit of tonal pop. Click through to shop our similar finds to make this style your own.

Strategically placed right in the center of her buttoned-to-the-top collar, Chung's bow-shaped brooch is a cute alternative to this season's collar necklaces and chokers. Like the look but want to wear something a little less twee? Try the same placement with any style of brooch — we think something hard-lined and geometrical would look equally cool. Fall 2011 Grunge Trend - Joanna Hillman Street Style

>> Go to great lengths with a little inspiration from this Fall-ready look, snapped on Harper's Bazaar senior fashion market editor Joanna Hillman. '90s redux was big on the Fall 2011 runways — think Altuzurra, Vena Cava, and Alexander Wang — and here, that same posh-grunge vibe is captured perfectly. A glammed-up sequin maxi skirt and artistically-printed tee get a little structure with the addition of a tailored short-sleeve blazer. Fall 2011 Street Style - How To Layer for Fall

>> Ease into cooler weather — and add longevity to your Summer basics —  by copying this street-snapped styling trick. Warm-weather mainstays like mini skirts, T-shirts, and strappy wedges may seem destined for storage once the temperatures drop, but by employing a little expert layering, these wardrobe favorites can power on straight through Fall. A long shawl cardigan adds warmth when layered under an oversized white blazer, while strappy sandals get elevated to boot status with the addition of ankle socks and sheer tights. Strong accessories — a black bucket bag, a thick cuff bracelet, a wide belt — help to ground the look. Want to make this style your own? Roarke New York's Transition-Perfect Necklaces

Statement Necklaces - Fall 2011 Accessories Trends - Roarke New York

>> Roarke New York's intricately beaded scarf-necklace hybrids are the perfect Fall accessory: a little glam, super versatile, and they just happen to fit perfectly with this season's neck-centric mood.

"Our pieces are mainly produced in India, where the attention to detail is like no other," says Laetitia Stanfield, one half of the Roarke duo that also includes designer Mignonne Gavigan. The pair met and founded the line in 2009, after doing stints at Bergdorf Goodman (Stanfield) and Marc Jacobs (Gavigan). The Roarke girls also both count Paris as a former home, citing the city as a huge source of inspiration. "Our travels play a large part in the designs, as does the idea of mixing old with new. We find a lot of inspiration from vintage and flea markets, and rework the details to give them the Roarke touch."

Ranging from around $100 to $725, the line not only features the brand's signature bib necklaces, but also a selection of other accessories — including bracelets, headpieces, and coming later this Fall, a range of high-end handbags. "We are just putting our finishing touches on it," confirms Stanfield.
