Dannijo designers Danielle and Jodie Snyder are expanding their impressive jewelry line — celebs like Blake Lively, Beyoncé Knowles, and Rihanna have all been spotted wearing their cool-girl baubles — to include a new shoe collection with footwear brand Matt Bernson. “Shoes are the same as jewelry — it’s an emotional buy," said Jodie Snyder. "You gravitate towards something different and unique. These shoes are more like jewelry for your feet." Change is the air: after last week's news of Raf Simons's departure at Jil Sander, it has just been announced that Stefano Pilati will be showing his last Yves Saint Laurent collection at Paris Fashion Week on March 5. "I exit the house with fierce conviction in all that we have achieved and deep gratitude to those who have supported me along the way," said Pilati. "I wish the maison Yves Saint Laurent and its new creative director the very best for the future." Pilati, who has been at Yves Saint Laurent since 2004, has been criticized over the years for his inconsistent collections. While some received rave reviews — Pilati's "Tribute" sandals along with his "Muse" and "Downtown" bags were great successes — critics described some of his collections as "lacking color and modernity." Meanwhile, Hedi Slimane, former designer at Dior Homme, is rumored to return to fashion and replace Pilati at YSL. For Bottega Veneta's Fall 2012 collection, Tomas Maier showed us his take on wearable luxury, highlighting sleek suiting, sharp coats, and an impressive batch of evening wear. “The look is covered up and the materials are virtually impenetrable, yet the effect is powerfully physical,” said Maier. Day wear focused on tailored coats, cropped trousers, and skirt suits featuring brooch-adorned jackets, refined blazers, and knee-length pencil skirts dipped in purple, black, and navy hues. Meanwhile, '40s-inspired shift dresses were injected with a modern touch via sliced leather insets and statement prints. The latter was featured on a striking cap-sleeve dress with a bold corset belt. Evening wear honed in on Maier's love for texture; velvet and feathered cocktail dresses and peplum gowns emoted the perfect sense of opulence, with just the right amount of mystique. Outerwear highlighted a range of gorgeous belted coats, fur caplets, and draped laser-cut blazers. Banana Republic just released images from its Mad Men collection, set to debut March 1, showing a range of pretty ladylike options worn by Shalom Harlow come Spring. Designed by Mad Men's costume designer Janie Bryant, the line includes over 40 pieces, highlighting white lace tops, short-sleeve floral sheaths, pink capri pants, polished party dresses, and chic accessories like colorblock pumps and bright clutches.
