>> Zac Posen, known primarily for his red carpet gowns, has gone populist between his lower-priced line Z Spoke and his collection for Target (the latter which hits stores nationwide April 25 and is shoppable in Manhattan at 481 Eighth Avenue as part of a 24-hour pop-up preview starting tonight at 11 pm).
Posen had turned down a previous offer from Target for a collaboration, but has since changed his sensibility to the more commercial. "There's nothing unbeautiful about mass quantities. This is where you can really change fashion," he told The Wall Street Journal. "No matter what the trendoids say, power to the people!"
In fact, the Target line has him thinking about more possibilities: “This absolutely could lead to a more permanent [collection]. I’m into building a fully vertical lifestyle brand like the Giorgio Armani and Emporio Armani model.”
Posen's mother, Susan Posen, rejoined the company as chairman in October and has been encouraging Zac to think about his brand's commercial sustainability. Besides adding lines, expenses and employees have been shed, and some production has been been moved from Italy to China, all to save money.
Posen recently signed a deal for a line of handbags, and shoes, eyewear, and outerwear could follow soon. He also wants to open his own stores: “At one moment in my life, I wanted tons of stores for my top line. Right now, I’m trying to be fiscally responsible. Obviously, retail is on the horizon. I want the timing to be right.”
WWD reports in an article today that Posen said his company will break even this year, whereas the Wall Street Journal quotes Susan Posen in an article today saying the brand will make its first profit this year.

these dresses are flying off the racks like crazy, so get yours soon!
I really love his high fashion designs, so am really glad he changed his mind. And I don't care what the reason was, I only care that I'll have some of his pieces now.
Looks like Zac Pozen is doing good career choices since he has dropped Fashion PR KCD.
