>> In the Golden Globes aftermath, Cathy Horyn was left less than impressed. "The new decade certainly didn’t announce itself with a bang on the Globes red carpet last night, and it had nothing to do with the rain," she blogged yesterday. "Where was that single, game-changing dress that people would talk about?"
She continued:
Most of the dresses last night offered little more than a paper-doll variation on styles of the past few years. A preponderance of blush pink or one-shouldered styles doesn’t point to a trend so much as reveal an ongoing problem with mediocre design. Maybe the best designers now prefer to stay away from the awards shows, and the actresses, worried about bad publicity, don’t know the difference anymore. They don’t know what it means in fashion to be playful and truly relaxed. So the dresses keep wearing them.
Fashion Week Daily tallied the credits from Sunday's Golden Globes, and Chanel, Vera Wang, Donna Karan, Rodarte, Pucci, Calvin Klein Collection, Jean Paul Gaultier, or Prada were notably not represented by any wearers on the red carpet. Louis Vuitton, Bottega Veneta, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Carolina Herrera, and Christian Dior all only had one wearer apiece.
Armani, on the other hand, was far and away the designer with the most representation — Penelope Cruz, Helen Mirren, Reese Witherspoon, Jodie Foster, Camilla Belle and Sophia Loren, were all either in Armani ready-to-wear or Prive.

I completely agree with Cathy Horyn, please PLEASE can we see something interesting on the red carpet. People are being too safe. If they have a stylist, that stylist shouls be good enough to find somthing that will "please the public" and be INTERESTING.
Ok ok so maybe the gowns were a bit lackluster this year and not a whole lot of desingers were present, so to speak. True as that may be, we were THRILLED to see so many ruffles on the carpet. We're really loving this trend and love love Zoe Saldana's ruffled maroon dress by Louis Vuitton above as well as the many other ruffled ladies of the evening.
We love the ruffle trend so much, we translated it to knits:

I LOVE CATHY.
Most of the women looked like aged Cindy dolls. Yes thats right, Cindy and NOT Barbie!
Would have loved to have seen some architectural Haider Ackermann on the red carpet....

I have to agree. The dresses were really a big disappointment and it looked olk
like dresses from the past.
