>> This morning, Terry Richardson took to his blog to address the recent allegations of sexual misconduct surrounding his work practices:
I just want to take a moment to say I’m really hurt by the recent and false allegations of insensitivity and misconduct. I feel fortunate to work with so many extraordinary people each and every day. I’ve always been considerate and respectful of the people I photograph and I view what I do as a real collaboration between myself and the people in front of the camera. To everyone who has embraced and supported me and my work, I am so grateful. Thank you, it means a lot.

With technology being what it is today, I never understand why people do things they shouldn't. If someone is falsely accusing or is being rightfully accused of misconduct, somewhere, somehow, it is going to be tweeted, texted, facebooked, video taped and so on. It is almost imperative that as a business owner/entity that you keep your nose as clean as possible because things are so much more transparent these days. I hope that whatever the truth is will eventually show up and we can stop having to get public apologies from people in private situations.
an old girlfriend of Terry's and an old friend of mine says he 'raped' her... they were off, she said no, he forced it. Just character hearsay.
Like I've said before, I'm on Team Terry.
He does pretty amazing things with a camera and yes, they are sexually-charged and he is sexually-charged but that's what we expect from him. Why is it a problem now? Terry should keep doing what he's always done. Because if we are blaming him then we should blame everyone else in the fashion industry. This industry is a human comedy. Full of contradictions that most people outside of it don't understand.
Terry is an incredible photographer. He pushes the envelope again and again and harder and harder. And that's why we love him. I don't believe any of the women that accuse Terry of 'raping' or 'exploiting' them.
I'm thinking of making a Team Terry t-shirt...
would a decent guy post pictures of him getting a hand job/blowjob from girls?????
how disrespectful! just eeeew

Nobody can be 'forced' to do anything.
If terry asked a girl to do something in a shoot which made them feel uncomfortablte, all they have to do is say no.
He gives off a really, really creepy vibe. He'd have to be really perverted to make me and other people feel this way just by looking at him!
I would not have a problem with is behavior if it were two consenting adults... However most of these girls are young... VERY young. I am very uncomfortable with this. They may not "have been forced" to do things against their will; but i don't feel like they should have ever been put into a situation where they have to make that choice to begin with. While i really like his work, I do not feel he has behaved ethically in this situation
The truth will find its way, it always does, but to those who are standing by Terry blindly, because 'his work is amazing' to attribute qualities of his work, to him as a person is one of the worst errors in judgment, and thinking that you can make. Yes, his work is degrading and objectifies women, but we should not rush to conclusions about what goes on during his photo shoots. These allegations are serious, and it's never right to tarnish someone's reputation out of dislike, or hate. As for the women, who may have been molested...to me this speaks more and more to the treatment of models in the Fashion Industry. Wasn't Daul Kim's death enough? Stop using these young girls for your gain, and not allowing them the right to speak. What I'm revolted by the most is the fact that the Fashion Industry has the potential to be so empowering for women, yet we force them to become emaciated and call it beautiful, shun diversity of color, and shapes, and reflect our insecurities on these young women and girls. It's disgusting what some models have to go through and hopefully many will learn from this, and issues of the past, rather than wait for them to blow over.

Producing work that "pushes the envelope" and sexually harassing women aren't mutually exclusive. To flippantly disregard the many allegations against him just because you like his work is ridiculous.

These girls may not have been 'forced' to do anything, but it is not as simple as saying no. Many of these girls are very young, and it would've been difficult, especially if they were not yet well-established in the industry, to say no to a man who has the power to make or break their careers. There is a degree of pressure and coercion here.
You don't usually make "Team ___" shirts for somebody accused of sexual misconduct. It's not the same as when whichever celebrity couples break up. There is no "Team Sexually Harassed."
Yeah, he hasn't been convicted of anything so it's hard to pass judgement... but on PRINCIPLE taking advantage of young girls who are stupid enough to do despicable things to further their careers is wrong. That's why there are laws against it - when you're in a position of power those "under" you feel pressure to please you in order to advance or even just keep their standing.
have no problem passing judgement on this point, which is that all employees are entitled to a safe, ethical workplace. An industry that hires very young people is even more responsible for ensuring such an environment--tit's even more imperative when so much of the product is sexually charged. At the very least Richardson was incredibly irresponsible, and so are many of his supporters.
Yes, people know that he specializes in quasi-pornographic photo shoots, but that doesn't mean that the women who work for him are fair game. A photographer can shoot erotic images and still keep a professional distance between himself and the models--in fact, it's critical that he should do so. The fashion industry as a whole--which has evidently known of his behavior for many years--should be ashamed of itself.
A "Team Terry" T Shirt. Now your just being stupid. Just because a guy takes good pictures, doesnt mean you can totally ignore what he's done. Its like
Roman Polanski - another perv.
