>> The first image of Blake Lively's Chanel Mademoiselle handbag campaign has appeared; the ads break this week and next, and are set to run through June. So how did Lively end up with a stack of Chanel ads under her belt? “I had other opportunities and I would say, ‘Thank you so much, but I am holding out for Chanel,’” she says. “That’s who I want to be the face of. And people would say, ‘Well, that’s unrealistic, they only hire Europeans,’ and I said: ‘Well, how great. I’ll be the first then.’”

As for all the Vogue attention she's garnered — three covers, including one on a best-dressed special edition magazine in January — Vogue style director Alexander Kotur says it all started when the actress wore a blue Versace gown — slit up the thigh, with a revealing neckline — to the Costume Institute Gala two years ago: “We all just kind of jumped on her. When she came to the Met in that Versace we thought: ‘Who? What? Who’s this?’ She walked up those steps and she had confidence and she wore that dress like nobody else. That was when it all started.”

you know, when it was announced that BL would be the new face of CHANEL people were angry [some at least] it didn't phase me because I think of Serena when I see Blake - and Serena can pull of anything ... but this past weekend friends ventured into CHANEL to see the S/S 11 collection and they noticed how "mature" the clientele really is ... like BURBERRY using Emma Watson, the relevance of BL to CHANEL is low, the girls who love Serena are still in awe of her amazing taste, and the girls who love Blake will just love the pretty face - the target market is not being reached - that is for sure ... my mum said it best - "I'm at the age where I can afford CHANEL, purchasing my next CHANEL based on Blake Lively will never happen, no matter how good she looks"
Shouldn't you be crediting the New York Times article from where the majority of your post comes?
groundbreaking. sick of her and how obsessed people are.
ugh, i'm not a big fan of blake lively, i just dissapointed when i heard the news that she became the face of Chanel. it's just so cliche.
kendallerica's post - love it. i was also a little confused by the emma watson for burberry booking, but at least the campaign was lovely. i'm not blake's biggest fan, but i think she's a pretty girl and hope the other shots for the campaign are better than this. she's just so bright and smiley usually that it's odd to see her any other way.
