But the designers, models, editors, and felines who make New York Fashion Week possible set tongues wagging about way more than houndstooth knits and quilted leather. Read on for explanations of those — and for more of what got the New York crowd talking this week. After John Galliano's three-week residency in Oscar de la Renta's design studio, many wondered whether the former Dior couturier would take a bow at the end of the show. But the audience saw nary a hair on Galliano's head, and he wasn't mentioned in de la Renta's show notes, either. Was there anyone who saw Marie Claire accessories director Kyle Anderson with the Chanel Hula Hoop Bag this week that didn't make some kind of comment about it? Attendees complained about the commute to the ticketing hall of the Cunard Building at 25 Broadway (Metro style director Kenya Hunt tweeted that she "literally ice-skated down the last three blocks to make it"), but the show itself got rave reviews. "Who needs a handbag when you have a cat?" Eva Chen asked. Fashionista reported that Lily was part of a Purina ONE campaign called "True Nature of Cats” movement, which challenges "misconceptions about cats, beginning with the idea they can't be leash trained." But the opposite happened. There's now a commemorative Tumblr called Front Row Fluo. Jacobs clearly had the weather on his mind. After Hurricane Sandy barred him from his home and snowstorm Nemo delayed his show, a spot of sunlight is probably exactly what the doctor ordered. McMenamy the younger made her New York Fashion Week debut wearing nothing but pin-striped short shorts, heels, and a pair of opera gloves.
