>> Although Stefano's Tonchi first full front-to-back issue of W doesn't come out until September, the magazine's August 2010 cover brings a first look at what's to come. Tonchi has brought his taste for featuring lesser-known actors and actresses to W — his first cover features Mad Men's Jon Hamm and Rebecca Hall (who costars with Hamm in Ben Affleck's upcoming crime drama The Town), shot by lesser-known photographer Nathaniel Goldberg (the W of yesteryear largely featured cover photos by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, Steven Klein, and their ilk).
W was said to be originally focusing on Lindsay Lohan for the September 2010 cover, but Tonchi instead chose a group of young starlets and relative unknowns, among them Emma Roberts, Zoe Kravitz, and Jennifer Lawrence (star of 2010 Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner Winter's Bone). That cover will be on the newsstand alongside Harper's Bazaar's September cover choice Jennifer Aniston, Elle's Julia Roberts cover, Teen Vogue's Justin Bieber feature, Vanity Fair's September Style Issue highlighting Lady Gaga shot by Nick Knight, and Vogue's Halle Berry pick. At Tonchi's old stomping grounds, meanwhile, T's women's fashion issue, out Aug. 22, will be covered by Freida Pinto in her Stateside solo cover debut.

W is officially GARBAGE NOW, not that it wasnt before (becus it was) but you go from using A list stars to B-D list stars....If u really wanted to try something out of the ordicnary for UUS Fashion Mags.....Try putting the Trinity on the Cover or some really Amazing Models Past & Present since we are discussing the launch of a FASHION magazine and not a Celebirty crazed tabloid magazine....
All the fuss over 'tonchi' and this is the best he comes up with? The Fairchild Corp. should continue their employment search, until they find TALENT, because clearly Stefano doesn't have any. W has been TRASH for quite a few years, but with this new appointment, it is on it's way to being a supplement at best. Give this man a pink slip and save some money on your bottom line.
This looks like a cover of Entertainment Weekly, usually Rebecca Hall is cute, but whoever did the makeup did not do a good job or maybe it's just the photography??? So sad, W was one of my favorite mags, I hope this cover is a one off and not the direction they will take, maybe they concentrated on a great Sept cover? fingers crossed....
