>> The ten nominees for the 2010 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award have just been announced; the winner, who is awarded $200,000 and a yearlong mentorship, will be determined in November, as will two runners-up, who receive $50,000 each. For the last few years, the winner and runners-up have also worked with Gap as part of a limited-edition Gap Design Edition collaboration to help their labels more exposure.

The 2010 nominees include: womenswear designers Joseph Altuzarra of Altuzarra, Christian CotaGregory Parkinson, and Prabal Gurung; jewelry designers Eddie Borgo and Pamela Love of Pamela Love Jewelry; menswear designers Robert Geller, Oliver Helden and Paul Marlow of Loden Dager, and Billy Reid; and eyewear designer Moss Lipow. Last year's winner was Sophie Theallet, and Monique Pean and Patrik Ervell were the 2009 runners-up.

“Fashion is probably the only industry in the world where its fledgling talents are expected to be as creatively adept at running a business as they are at design,” Anna Wintour said. “Many, clearly, are not, and it’s through the support of the Fund that these promising designers will be able to build a future for themselves —and for American fashion."
