>> Erin Wasson never has a problem finding something to say — she recently told the Independent UK of her day job: "I've always been a girl with a massive opinion. I want to be in the know. Your typical model maybe shows up and is happy to be manipulated and is happy to ask no questions, and I'm quite the opposite. I'm really particular about wanting to know the essence and spirit of a situation that I'm in."
Perhaps that particularity and distinct point of view is part of what lead her to start designing in collaboration with RVCA. Last season, she went big, showing the collection at New York Fashion Week's Bryant Park Tents, but for Fall 2010, it sounds like she's going for an off-site location. Style.com reports: "We hear Erin Wasson is trading in the Tents for Fall '10 in favor of an ethnic-rug catwalk at ABC Home. Still planning live band though.."
Wasson on modeling during the supermodel days »
Don't expect anything on the runway but her signature laidback, model-off-duty look — although she says it wasn't so easy to pull off when she started modeling over ten years ago. "The supermodels would show up backstage and be wearing Versace," she told the Independent UK. "Even on your off days, you looked like you just walked off a photoshoot. Now it's OK to show up in a hoodie and jeans and be comfortable, knowing damn straight you're going to spend your day doing all this over-the-top sh*t."
