Derek Lam Sounds Poised for a High-Low Collaboration
>> Is Derek Lam dropping hints about wanting to do a high-low collaboration? At an alumni talk on Friday at Parsons in Manhattan, he noted: "I'm really trying to be in touch with the consumer," going on to cite Karl Lagerfeld's upcoming "masstige" collection, which will be sold mostly online, as an example of good designer-consumer relations. "What Karl Lagerfeld is doing — it may not be luxury, but he's always involved." Lam later added that he was "intrigued by reaching the consumer directly" through potential collaborations with retailers "like Topshop." [WWD]
