Burberry Returning to Londontown for Spring 2010 Runway Show

>> New York City Mayor Bloomberg has declared Thursday "Burberry Day" to coincide with the official lighting of the brand's logo atop its new US headquarters.  Christopher Bailey exclaimed of the event: “It’s going to be part of the Manhattan skyline — you’re going to be able to see it from all the boroughs!”

Bailey's on the first flight out of London to JFK airport tomorrow to celebrate, but he just made his own announcement worthy of celebration: he's bringing the Spring 2010 Burberry Prorsum show back to London Fashion Week in September.  The brand has shown in Milan for the past eight years, but Bailey decided it "feels right" to close London Fashion Week with “a big, sophisticated show.”

The return marks the 25th anniversary of both London Fashion Week and its organising body, the British Fashion Council, and Bailey will host “a large after-party for many attendees who haven’t been seen in town for several seasons” following the show to celebrate the anniverseries.

The move is only for one season so far, but Christopher Kane hopes it might be the beginning of a trend: “It’s really good for all of us. The injection of attention again is great. Hopefully, they’ll come, and then come back again.”
