Issa Founder Daniella Helayel Says Goodbye to Her Brand

After more than a decade of creating beautiful clothing at Issa, the brand's founder, Daniella Helayel, is walking away.

After more than a decade of creating beautiful clothing at Issa, the brand's founder, Daniella Helayel, is walking away.

"The time has come for me to move on to focus on my art, travel, and other interests," Helayel said in a statement. "Creating Issa has been one of the most rewarding things in my life. I may be leaving, but the Issa girl will live forever in my heart." WWD reports that at the end of the year, Helayel will be replaced by Blue Farrier, a designer and fashion consultant who has worked at Chloé, Sandro, and Stella McCartney, among other labels.

Farrier will inherit a brand that has expanded quickly in a short time. Helayel first showed Issa in 2001, and eventually earned warm reviews for her chic and comfortable jersey dresses. But in 2010, when Kate Middleton wore a blue silk-jersey wrap dress from Issa to announce her engagement to Prince William, the brand took off internationally.

Following that iconic moment, Issa revealed plans to relaunch the brand in the United States with an ecommerce site and six brick-and-mortar stores.

The new designer's boss, Issa CEO Angelina Ypma, said Farrier was hired to help the company grow. "Her vision and passion will be vital as we expand into new categories and markets and continue the development of Issa into a truly global lifestyle brand."

Explore Ferragamo's History, Comic-Book Style

An in depth graphic novel covering the history of Salvatore Ferragamo is one of the latest additions to the house's Museo Salvatore Ferragamo exhibit, The Amazing Shoemaker.

An in depth graphic novel covering the history of Salvatore Ferragamo is one of the latest additions to the house's Museo Salvatore Ferragamo exhibit, The Amazing Shoemaker. Beautifully brought to life by illustrator Frank Espinosa (whose résumé includes stints at Disney and Warner Brothers), the comic book introduces readers to a strapping Salvatore who pours out his personal history during a late night at his Italian factory. Consider it a quick and visually stunning tour through the company's history from the best possible narrator — Ferragamo himself, with Espinosa lifting much of the language directly from his autobiography.

Oscar de la Renta Resort 2014

In December, long after the foliage has fallen from trees all over the country, the delivery of Oscar de la Renta's Resort 2014 collection will remind shoppers of the beauty of Spring.

In December, long after the foliage has fallen from trees all over the country, the delivery of Oscar de la Renta's Resort 2014 collection will remind shoppers of the beauty of Spring.

The offering, presented Tuesday to small groups of editors in de la Renta's New York showroom, was covered in flowers of all kinds: violet blooms were attached to an acid green evening gown, while red bursts of flora adorned a sleeveless houndstooth peplum top, a half-sleeved cardigan, and an A-line dress.

That shape and others, like a balloon skirt in rose petal pink, the Watteau back on a strapless cocktail dress, and the many dresses with bateau necklines, recalled the spirit of '50s couture. But the buoyant color palette and the optimism were decidedly modern. A look at the collection, here in the gallery.

14 Fashion Exhibits You Should See This Year That Aren't About Punk

Punk: Chaos to Couture might be this year's most-celebrated fashion exhibit, but it's certainly not the only one on display.

Punk: Chaos to Couture might be this year's most-celebrated fashion exhibit, but it's certainly not the only one on display. In fact, just this morning, Somerset House in London announced that later this year, it will feature an exhibit on the late Isabella Blow.

Elsewhere in the world, the Rhode Island School of Design is highlighting historical and contemporary dandies, and the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf is featuring a show on the legendary Azzedine Alaia. And even the Metropolitan Museum of Art has another fashion exhibit that focuses on clothing in impressionist art.

A look at those shows and the other exhibits about fashion currently on display around the world, here, in the gallery.

Martha Stewart Has a Very Important Message For Vince's Doo-Ri Chung

Martha Stewart's love for the California-based brand Vince is well-documented — and Stewart has a message for its new creative director, Doo-Ri Chung.

Martha Stewart's love for the California-based brand Vince is well-documented — and Stewart has a message for its new creative director, Doo-Ri Chung.

"I love Vince. These are Vince leggings," Stewart said, swinging one leg from underneath a conference table during an interview at Macy's Herald Square flagship store last week. "These are fantastic. I wear them all the time because, actually, they fit me. I don't have to even try them on in the store. I know that if I buy my size, I will get a fit."

Stewart expressed concern about the departure of Rea Laccone, who oversaw design at Vince, but seemed relieved to learn that her replacement, Chung, is a woman.

"Oh good. I hope she keeps the same sizing," she said before leaning forward into our voice recorder to underscore the point. "Doo-Ri, please keep the same sizes because I don't like fitting rooms."

But Stewart does like J.Crew ("everybody wears everything J.Crew in my office") and "these young guys called Proenza Schouler." She said, "I think their things are very well made, I think they're beautiful, I think they could be a really big, important part of the American marketplace. They are not yet, but they are striving to be that. They're not a flash in the pan."

And neither, certainly, is Stewart, who's been too busy "designing things for the home and for living" to make a push into fashion. But that doesn't mean it won't happen someday. "I don't rule out anything like that, like entering fashion, because I would like to," she said. "I think I could design."

Jessica Chastain Wears Elizabeth Taylor's Jewels to Cleopatra Premiere

There was no tribute more fitting for the 50th anniversary viewing of Cleopatra — and to the film's stars, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton — than Jessica Chastain wearing one of Taylor's Bulgari necklaces at the Cannes premiere.

There was no tribute more fitting for the 50th anniversary viewing of Cleopatra — and to the film's stars, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton — than Jessica Chastain wearing one of Taylor's Bulgari necklaces at the Cannes premiere. It was a gift given to Taylor by Burton on her 40th birthday, in 1972.

The sapphire-and-diamond sautoir (with a 65-carat center stone) is part of an eight-piece collection that the jewelry house bought back from Taylor's 2011 Christie's auction, and these pieces have rarely been loaned to celebrities. "I feel so lucky to be wearing them. They looked so fabulous on her and she was a movie star from her head to her toes," said Chastain. "That kind of glamorous star doesn't exist anymore but their diamonds do."

An all-angles look at the stunning Bulgari necklace, here in the gallery.

Happy Birthday, Naomi Campbell! Her 43 Most Stunning Swimwear Shots

If the knowledge that Naomi Campbell will see her 43rd birthday today inspires feelings of incredulity, that's understandable.

If the knowledge that Naomi Campbell will see her 43rd birthday today inspires feelings of incredulity, that's understandable. The model, who was discovered at the tender age of 15, has been working continuously for almost 27 years — longer than some of her colleagues have been alive. But time, it appears, can't change Campbell's ageless beauty or enduring appeal.

It also apparently can't change her work ethic. Just because she's not spotted on the catwalk as frequently as she once was doesn't mean she's not still active. Her successful modeling reality show, The Face, will soon land in the UK, she's been busy appearing in editorials for Elle, and she's hard at work creating t-shirts for her charity, Fashion For Relief.

In honor of her indelible mark on the industry (and because Summer is quickly approaching), we're looking back at Campbell's best swimwear editorials. A look at 43 of those shots — one for each year she's been on the planet — here.

Paco Rabanne Says Goodbye to Second Creative Director in Two Years

Lydia Maurer, who became the artistic director of women's ready-to-wear at Spanish fashion house Paco Rabanne last Summer, is set to leave her post.

Lydia Maurer, who became the artistic director of women's ready-to-wear at Spanish fashion house Paco Rabanne last Summer, is set to leave her post. There is no word on who will replace her.

Maurer, a young designer who was relatively unknown until she took the helm of the brand, had only been in the position since June. In a statement, the company credited Maurer with "raising the profile of the house on the international fashion stage." Before coming to Paco Rabanne, Maurer held positions at Yves Saint Laurent and Givenchy and served as the head of the Paco Rabanne studio in November 2011.

But Maurer's predecessor Manish Aroraonce called the John Galliano of India — was also only in the artistic director's chair for a short time. He was hired to help revive the brand's name in February 2011, and his work — including a metallic dress worn by Lady Gaga — was warmly received. But last May, the company announced that he would leave the company, saying, "The strong media impact of the past two seasons has enabled Paco Rabanne to partake with strength in the universe of contemporary fashion."
