>> Chanel Again Denies Rumors That Alber Elbaz Will Replace Karl Lagerfeld —Jak & Jil photographer Tommy Ton's Tweets during Paris Fashion Week ("I received some news tonight that is going to SHAKE the fashion world in the next two days. CRAZY!!!! . . . I can't tell. I swore I'd zip the lip but I'll tell you my mouth nearly dropped to the ground when the news was whispered into my ear") caused rumors of Karl Lagerfeld being replaced by Alber Elbaz at Chanel to resurface, but Chanel has promptly denied them once again with a statement asserting that Lagerfeld has a long-term contract: "Replacing him is not an issue." Today, meanwhile, Ton Tweeted again about the news: "You think u know but u have NO idea. Sorry, it isn't my place to announce this news. You'll know exactly what I'm talking about soon . . . Here's a clue: view the Style.com Paris videos and see if you can figure it out. Tehehehe :P" [@JakandJilBlog, @JakandJilBlog, The Cut, Fashionista, @JakandJilBlog, @JakandJilBlog]
UPDATE: In response to his reports of major news impending, Ton Tweeted: "Guessing game is over. My source and I are the victim of a good prank played by Mr. Tisci himself. He got us good :(" [JakandJilBlog]

Well, it's been more than two days since the first tweet, so has the Fashion world been shaken yet?
Anyway, since this rumor has already been trotted out by someone at least once, I'm sure we'll hear it again. It's somewhat like folks tweeting that Jeff Goldblum is dead. Which, as far as I know, he still isn't!
proof once more that tommy ton is the biggest douchebag in the industry
This will never happen Karl Lagerfeld is irreplaceable he is an institution.
I hope Karl is replaced some time soon. Chubacca chic for this F/W? I don't thinks so. I also think that by using faux fur, it was more of a PR ploy then clever design idea.
I posted this a while ago about designers who should possibly be replaced. Would love to hear some thoughts:

Alber leaving Would be a death blow to Lanvin. He is the heart and soul of the modern Lanvin woman. Why would he leave a private group with a brand basically defined by him to go to major corporate Chanel to define a mold of Chanel?! Also Tommy ton said it would floor us so this is an old rumor.
okay so he just said it was a hoax. what a douche!
I can't imagine Chanel without Karl. I adore the man.
Karl is a great designer. But who knows what will happen?
I like F/W 2010/2011 collection of Chanel, and its message as well. I think only he can create this kind of show.
