>> New York Fashion Week is a little more than a week away, and the tidbits are flowing freely — a compilation of the highlights from the past few days:

Launches
- Marchesa is launching its first accessories — 28 clutches and evening bags (above); They will retail $995 to $5,000 and are made to coordinate with the mainline dresses. [WWD]
Presentations
- After showing by appointment last season, Peter Som is staging his first presentation ever. The Spring 2010 collection is a little larger than last season, is reminiscent of "summer days at the beach," and will likely have lots of print and color — "happy clothes," as Som says. [The Cut]
- Vera Wang was hoping to return to the Tents this season, but by the time she made the decision at the end of July, a spokesperson says, "There was no availability that would work for us.” She expects to be in the Tents next season. [WWD]
Inspirations
- Alexander Wang cites the word "perv" as inspiration for Spring 2010; Rodarte expects to be "singed" [The Cut]
- Narciso Rodriguez was "greatly influenced by the sculpture of Barbara Hepworth. The three dimensional and graphic shapes that are her work became a constant source of inspiration." [FWD]
