Eva Herzigova, Ines de la Fressange Go Without Makeup, Retouching for French Elle Covers

Fri, 04/10/09 — 06:06:25 PM

>> While the editors at Elle are making lists of what the economy has forced them to give up (bottled water, working out with a trainer) and what necessities they can't bear to part with (haircuts at Fekkai, Wolford tights, monthly facials), their counterparts at French Elle are preparing to do something novel.  This week's issue, which hits newsstands Saturday, features Eva Herzigova, Inès de la Fressange, and actresses Monica Bellucci, Sophie Marceau, Anne Parillaud, Karin Viard, Charlotte Rampling, and Chiara Mastroianni, who all agreed to appear without any makeup or retouching.  Peter Lindbergh did the honors, and inside the magazine, five more unnamed celebrities are promised.

ummm.....hate to break it to you guys.....they have makeup on. "natural" makeup giving them the illusion of being fresh faced. i'm sorry but only sophie marceau looks remotely makeup free. monica bellucci....please!! she definitely has makeup on!! as well as eva.....if they really wanted to achieve this "groundbreaking" idea then they should have put these women in the most truthful of lighting and scrubbed their faces clean. they all are beautiful, no doubt but let's move the lens in closer and take the makeup off.

I agree with mclare37. Only Sophie Marceau looks anywhere close to makeup free.

It's still a nice step in the right direction, but I do hope they will make the disclaimer that there is some foundation (and even some eye makeup at least on bellucci) going on there.

I'm not upset that they're not wearing makeup at all. For me, my skin isn't worthy of any jealousy, so makeup for a photo shoot is a must.

But I am very, very glad that they ditched retouching. Many models that were retouched looked like CGIs. I hope this continues on to other magazines.

Oops, I meant that, "I'm not upset that THEY ARE wearing makeup."

Monica has perfect skin. I really don't think she's wearing makeup.
