I honestly think the time off is linked to Heath Ledgers death. There were rumors the two had been a couple and she was at the funeral i believe, coincidence i think not but good for her time to mourn is a good reason to take a break.
must be nice to have a year off work at 20! ... we working people can all dream can't we?
