>> Isabel Marant "Hates Famous Women" —Isabel Marant has been notoriously leery about selling her collection online, and it seems like she has reservations in a few other departments as well: "I'm quite anti-consumerist; It's difficult for me being a designer in an industry I don't like. When I design a collection I find myself thinking, 'Why do we need new clothes?' I never think about the fashion people . . . They are not my concern." She's also not feeling the "sexy" moment like most of the rest of fashion: "Big breasts and lips. No! I hate those girls. I hate famous women. My ideal woman is Serge Gainsbourg. Not that he was a woman." [TFS via Love]

"Because that's what I'm all about: SHOCK!"
gee, if she hates what she does so much, why doesn't she step aside, stop producing $1200 sweatshirts, and let someone with talent who appreciates their fame take over? She's absolutely annoying.
Self-centered, self-important, self-loathing...and will eventually self-destruct as she's simply too boring to sustain her own attention. ...and mine. Signing off now.

why the f**k is she in this business anyway if she hates it so much.
I'm very leery of women who say they "hate" breasts (be they large breasts or small ones). If you are a woman who hates one of the physical characteristics of being female, what does that say about you?
is she kidding me?!
"I never think about the fashion people . . ." she wouldn't have a collection if it wasn't for those "fashion people" BEFORE her. she's such a nice try.
what a french pretentious bitch. what is she talking about? I suggest she gets out of fashion and becomes a nun.
seriously... then why the hell did you seek out Fashion Director of FRENCH VOGUE no less...Emmanuelle Alt to work with you???!!!!!!!! if you don't like the business and you never think of fashion people, you cannot get anymore fashion than that. I used to buy TONS of your clothing, literally walk in grab 15 pieces and buy it, without even trying things on!, I will NEVER do that again.
I've always thought that most "fashion" designers hated women. She's at least willing to admit it.
I love how mad everyone is here. Clearly she's not preaching to the choir. I find it incredibly refreshing and bold of her to make these statements to her target market. I'm elated that she's realized how superficial and fake this industry is. Perhaps spend less money on looking good, and more brain power on looking at the real problem of over consuming and how its the main contributing factor to the decay of humanity. Just looking at the bigger picture... don't mind me.
